Reds can come in a variety of shades. As puppies, these corgis may look like a sable, but the black will eventually fade, leaving a red and white coat.
Sables can also vary from light to dark. They will have black over the back, withers, and tail. The amount of black may vary between sables from just a light amount of black to almost looking completely black from a distance.
Bluie is a unique coloring is due to a recessive gene that causes their coat to have a dilute coloring. Bluies will have a predominantly blue/grey with white & tan. Has blue tipped ears, distinguished blue around the eyes which makes a ”black headed Bluie tri”.
Often shorted to RHT, are black, tan and white, they look quite similar to a black-headed tri when young. However, at maturity, a red-headed tri will have red on the top of their head, around their ears and eyes. While there may be a little black on the head, the predominant color will be red.
Often shorted to BHT, are black, tan, and white. These corgis have black on the top of their head, ears, and around the eyes. A black-headed tri will also have white markings, giving them the tri-coloration.
Bluie RHT, has red around the ears and can tell the bluie around the face isn’t solid so it will slowly fade to red to make the "bluie red header tri".
This is the coat type that the American Kennel Club recognizes in a positive way as it’s the breed standard which means they are accepted into AKC shows and competition. The coat is easier to manage in general but in my personal experience they shed MORE than fluffies do.
The long hair corgi is a result of a genetic mutation (recessive FGF5 fluff gene). The American Kennel Club does recognize the fluffiness but in a bad way. No, they are not any faulty dog with health issues but simply a unique version of the standard corgi. In my personal experience they shed LESS than standards do.
